God's Love 4 You

36 Just as it is written, "FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG; WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:36-39)

You must be fully persuaded in faith that nothing whatsoever could separate you from God. There must be a certainty that you truly understand the nature of the love of God itself, the security of it in Christ, and of the persons God elects. The relationship you inherit with Christ cannot be broken by anything. In fact, even if you backslide or reject Him, the love is still there! Once we understand how God loves his people, which he has expressed it in and through Christ, we can stop beating ourselves up over our mistakes. Rest assured, God will never dissolve the relationship. That being said, we have a God that loves us unconditionally and absolved us from the charge of guilt. Which means, we can come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. (Hebrews 4:16)

Ship at Port

1 Kings 22:48 Jehoshaphat also built a fleet of trading ships to sail to Ophir for gold. But the ships never set sail, for they met with disaster in their home port of Ezion-geber. 49 At one time Ahaziah son of Ahab had proposed to Jehoshaphat, “Let my men sail with your men in the ships.” But Jehoshaphat refused the request.

>>>Do not let yourself be a ship that has never sailed. Never seek lesser than God's best for you. Take responsibility for your life Galatians 6:5-6. You can be an accuser, excusor, or chooser. Either way, you cannot achieve anything of God with out Jesus. Be honest are you surrendering enough so Jesus can sail your ship from Port?

What is Your Level of Commitment?

In 1 Kings 19:14-21 we learn of the call of Elisha. Concerned the townspeople were out to kill him, Elijah receives instructions from God to anoint Elisha. When Elisha is asked by Elijah to pick up his things and go, Elisha obeys, kisses his parents, burns his plow, and cooks his 12 oxen for the village. This is not like the men in the Luke 9 who asked,  "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father" ,or "Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home." What is different here? Regarding the first man, religion and society teaches us to reciprocate our love to our parents, be kind, and show our devoutness, but we must not make these an excuse for neglecting our duty to God. The other gentleman, willing to follow Christ, but he is only committing under a condition - the idea of attachment.  Extrapolating the text it does not appear to be property he needs to leave because in those times that could be done on spot. Verse 61 is better translated, to order the persons and affairs relating to my house. Either way, it signifies a too much worldliness state of mind in this disciple.  Maybe he had in mind the example of Elisha, to whom Elijah gave the same indulgence. Yet the different treatment of the two cases shows how different of a spirit each had or better yet, RELATIONSHIP. Elisha immediately obeys and we could agree Elisha models an inconceivable commitment to God’s calling through Elijah. Elisha, put the needs of God ahead of his own because he understood the cost of following God is great, but the cost of not following Him is even greater. What does this have to do with you? Elisha shows us that to step toward your destiny, you have to step away from your security. What does your level of commitment say? Is it immediate or eventually? What security might you need to walk away from in order to walk toward your destiny?

Sometimes we are not fruitful because we dig up our own seeds with doubt and negativity. When you realize who you are and whose you are you build a stronger mentality. You process things a little clearer. Every setback is a setup for a comeback. God wants to bring you out better than you were before.
Your relationship with the Father determines what you believe. If you know Him as a healer you will believe just as Jesus healed the man at the pool. But if you believe Jesus was just a man then you cannot believe He has the power to heal. We have to get this relationship thing right. As important as it is for you, it is just as important for your seeds. If you are not careful the devour will sneak up and yoke up your seed. Binding it as it tries to grow and suffocating the life out of it. The devil is a liar! Think about the most significant relationship you have and think how much work it takes or took to maintain it. Now insert King Jesus. In Lamentations 5, we learn of the disgrace of God's people and the affect of the older generation's choices. Choice is one of the fundamental rights God gives to man.  It is choice which God bases his judgement. Without choice there is no righteousness or sin, no good or evil. Choose today to be committed to go deeper in Christ. As Pastor Jeff would title it, Deeper by Choice. When we chose to serve God regardless of [fill in the blank] we are choosing to put the things God values most in our relationship at the forefront.

Why a Relationship?

Consider yourself without lungs. How would we breathe? Impossible right? No fresh air. Your blood cannot function properly. In the same way, God created our lungs so we could take in HIS air, the relationship with the Father is the same way. VITAL! He gave us a spirit so our spirit could receive Him. As I have said before, God needs us to worship Him. He needs us to establish a relationship with Him so He is not just God in our lives, but He is our Lord. God desires a spiritual connection. Romans 8:16 says For His Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children.  Everyone has a God. Whether it is a God-Jehovah, or god (little g). BUT not everyone calls him Lord. His children call him Father. Again it depends on your relationship. When you establish this relationship you understand that you are His (Gen. 1:26,  2:7,9). God is perfect and you are in His likeness and image -mistake free. We need to recognize this so we can walk as God has called us to walk. This speaks of the significance of who you are. Don't believe the lie of the devil that lowers your self esteem. God found you good, holy, and acceptable. Furthermore, during the entire process of creation, man is the only one to receive a spirit. Our spirit recognizes God as life, or the Tree of Life if you will. (John 1:4) It is our spirit that allows the connection with God and we become His living vessel expressing Him outwardly. God's spirit will enlighten and expose our position and condition. His penetrating spirit will edify us and every good thing in us will come out.  We need to develop a personal relationship with the Father. If we chose to not accept His relationship we cannot proclaim His work and the world needs us. Look at the news, they are waiting for us.

YOUR Personal Relationship

As most of us are in church, maybe streaming from home, or some maybe home reading the bible, it is important for us to know that today is about more than that. If we get anything out of our "worship" time today, I pray it is we need a personal relationship through Jesus. The truth is, you can keep all of the 10 commandments and still NOT know Jesus. It's about YOUR personal relationship through Christ. You need to ask yourself, how well do you know Him - the one that died on the cross, conquered death, and rose again to so you could live a life abundantly and joyfully. You need that relationship more than the desert needs the rain, more than the ocean needs the streams, more than the morning needs the sun. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. Establish your 1 on 1 time with Him today and everyday.

"No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father." John 6:46

"If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is.
From now on, you do know him and have seen him!" John 14:7

To Watch What YOU Say

The other day I went to kiss my daughter like I normally try to do. She told me no and in my mind I am thinking man, "she nevers give me my morning daddy kiss." A little disappointed I hop in the shower and immediately I say, "to watch what you say." Matthew 15:11 says, "It's not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth."  Proverbs 18:21 says "The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. I could have damaged my future relationship with my daughter through my words."  The bible has numerous verses about the power of the tongue and mouth. It is important for us to take control of our tongue and mouth. I am determined that hell will not set my tongue on fire. We need to renounce, reject, and repent of every word that has ever proceeded out of our mouth against God and his operation. We need to dedicate our mouth to speak excellent and princely things as well as truth. The ability of God is released within you by the words of your mouth and by the Word of God. Speaking the word of God makes them alive in you. We need to speak words of faith, love, power, and life. If you believe in your heart that you are SAVED through JESUS and HE IS ALIVE, then you must believe HIS words are ALIVE TODAY. This means you are exercising your faith in what you believe and belief start everything. This will help you produce good things in your life and in the lives of others.  Glory to God!

Don't Allow Your Feelings to Defeat Your Faith

Jesus is often referred to as the Solid Rock. An important part of His nature is His emotional maturity, which includes His unchanging stability. Hebrews 13:8 tells us that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus did not allow himself to be moved or led around by His emotions. He was led by the Spirit not by feelings, even though He was subject to all the same feelings that you and I experience in our daily lives. You may get aggravated at times because someone may not get as excited as you about something. It just may be part of their personality. According to 1 Peter 5:8-9 we need to be rooted and grounded in Christ in order to defeat the devil and withstand his physical and emotional onsets. When people or events come agains us to detroy us, we are to stand firm, confident that everything is going to work out for the best. This is where we get in to trouble. We find it easier change ourselves, when God is the one that will change the circumstances for us. Amen! Not every day is a holiday. Not every meal is a banquet. Not every event is an extravaganza. We need to learn to enjoy life and stop believing our feelings and believe God instead.  Feelings are supposed to compliment your life. Don't allow your feelings to defeat your faith and determine your destiny.  Instead, discover what the Word of God says about your feelings and take control.

1 Peter 1:13-16

1 Peter 1:13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."

As Christ followers, we are expected to be different, stand outs, and holy, but what does it mean to BE HOLY? The word HOLY means, "to be set apart for God." Extrapalating this definition we must understand being "set apart for God," is something greater. To be "set apart for God," means TO BELONG TO GOD. What makes us different are the qualities of God that exist in our life causing us to not be conformed of this world (Rom 12:2). This speaks of a RELATIONSHIP, and really an IDENTITY. Ephesians 1:11 explains that God's purpose is to offer salvation to the world. This was his original plan since the beginning. To have a relationship with him. We must remember God is sovereing and in charge of our lives. When life seems chaotic, rest in his TRUTH ... Jesus is Lord and God is in control. The devil can not deviate the plan of God.  Belonging to God means you will be fruitful (Mark 4:19), be rescued from evil (Galatians 1:4), and have a new attitude and self (Eph 4:23-24).  Remember, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy (Titus 3:5a).  The anticipated return of our Lord and Savior should provoke us to deepen our relationship with Christ.

What do you see?

There is a song by Bishop Paul Morton titled I am what you see. It is my prayer that we develop the discipline to think right. This will give us the discipline to act right despite our status, situation, or relationship. The bible says without vision the people perish (Proverbs 29:18) . We take this to mean many things, but the fact of the matter is regardless if you are talking about a project at work, finances, or motivation -  seeing the vision is what leads you to the GOAL. Try seeing it this way, in order for an artist to finish a painting, the vision must be cognitively developed to know where to put the paint. That being said, if you see that you are healed and free, you would not act as if you are bound. It's your vision that leads you. It's as if Christ gives you a new pair of glasses. A new outlook. The only thing is,  it's up to you to put them on - freedom of choice.  We need to start letting God's word define us. Don't let your feelings define your perspective of yourself. God's word is the final authority. See yourself as beautifully and wonderfully made. A lender and not a borrower. Worthy and acceptable. I am the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).  You are the temple of the Holy Spirit; you are not your own (1 Corinthians 6:19).  You are the head and not the tail; above only and not beneath (Deuteronomy 28:13). You are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). People of faith operate off their revelation not their situation.

Don't Lose Your Clarity

Hebrews 4:12, we learn in an effort to deter the people’s rebellion God, whose word exposes our innermost thoughts and desires, confront them. He is saying, “You better give diligence to enter into God's rest because the word of God is living and powerful and it will pierce right down in the most inner part of your heart to see if you're really real or not.” If you believe in your salvation, you believe EVERY Word of God is real. When people turn to Jesus it is because the Word of God penetrates the heart and brings you face to face with yourself. The word of God is alive and God had to remind the Jews of its power.  There is a lesson in it for us as well. It is an encouragement to stay on course. The Jews lost the vision, became indecisive, and became distracted.  Like a good parent, God will try to get you to refocus your attention. Be encouraged, gaining clarity may cause you to lose connections, OH BUT what you will lose sight of once you gain clarity in Jesus.  God's word requires decisions ... not only to listen, but to let it shape our lives. I once read the "Word of God" being referenced as the "word is the birth of the mind". How beautiful is that? It's time to stop running away from things that are uncomfortable and hard. It's time to confront issues in your life.

Attractions, Distractions, Infractions

What is it that you know God is displeased with? What is drawing you at your weakest point? Maybe I am the only that has one, but what about lying, sowing discord, debt, envy? In Hebrews 3 & 4 we learn of the Jews who had renounced Judaism, turned from Judaism and begun to point toward Christ but never really received Christ. They'd gone away from Judaism but they hadn't stepped into a real relationship with Christ so they're turning around back to Judaism.  The Jews are warned not to turn around and go back to Judaism no matter the pressure and love for their sinful nature. They are encouraged to take the next step and keep faith. Many of us find ourselves in this situation. Our attractions, become distractions from Christ and we end up creating an infraction against God. When on the edge of making a decision which truly requires us to step out in faith in Jesus Christ we fold. In most sports, the game is won before you step on the field.  The same follows here, when your attractions begins to call you, you have to have enough WORD in you.  It does not have to be memorized, but in your spirit as a defense. As with the Jews, we cannot risk future generations being tempted by the things we could never break over our families.  The future is too vital for us to fail and fall back. When decision time or adversity comes ... strive, hasten, be diligent.

What does it mean to think that God has a perfect plan for us? Perhaps it's the word "perfect" that troubles us. We're fallible and make so many mistakes. Immediately we think of our shortcomings and shake our heads. It's a trick! The plan isn't perfect because WE'RE perfect; the plan is perfect because GOD is perfect. Let's think about that plan. In Philippians 1:6, Paul told us God saved us and started a good work in us. Paul also wrote, in Eph 2:10, we are God's handiwork (or workmanship). The two verses before that tell us that we're saved by God's grace--we haven't earned it or deserved it. As soon as we say, "But wait! I'm not perfect! I fail," we have taken our attention off God and allowed Satan to distract us with wrong thinking. Don't let your imperfections and weaknesses hinder you. Renew your mind.

Discouragement and Disappointment

Discouragement and disappointment are normal emotions we all experience even as Christians, but it’s important to know how to make sure those debilitating emotions don't get the best of us.  Job felt discouraged with his wife and friends. Elijah became discouraged with life’s circumstances. Jeremiah felt angry and discouraged with God when he believed God was against him, and because of that perspective, he temporarily lost hope in God. Peter felt discouraged with himself when he realized that he wasn't as courageous as he thought he was.  The best way to chase out a negative feeling is with another feeling. The Bible teaches us “In everything give thanks for this is the will of God” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Gratitude is a powerful anecdote for discouragement. We may not be able to give God thanks for the difficult situation that we find ourselves in, but we can learn to look for things we can be thankful for in the midst of it.

1 Peter 5:10 Suffering

"If God only blessed us after we became believers--if He took away all suffering, hardship, and turmoil for Christians--wouldn't it be a way to bribe people into the faith?"  That's not the way God works. The Lord wants us to come to Him out of love, not NEED.  Reality is birth to death, we will suffer at times. Some have harder tasks than others, but suffering is still suffering.  Be mindful, people watch us as we turn to God for help in our hardships and they see our victories, it provides a witness to them. That witness may not always make them turn to Christ, but it does show God's presence in our lives and makes them aware of what they're missing.  The other day I had a new thought:   The time between suffering and thanksgiving is when the devil truly attacks our thoughts. He may begin by saying, "If God really loved you, you would not have to go through this." The truth is, we'll have problems if we're believers; we'll have problems if we're nonbelievers. But as believers, we'll also have victories. As believers in Jesus Christ, we can have peace in the midst of the storm. We can enjoy our lives during the hardships because we truly believe that God is working on our behalf to bring deliverance. 1 Peter 5:10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

You learn what you’re really made of only when things go wrong and you are tumbled, end over end, by some adversity or setback that hits you like a Mack truck coming out of an alley ... When you become a great success, you simply exchange one type of problem for another. No matter how smart and clever and careful you are, you'll face challenges, difficulties and sometimes-heartbreaking adversities every day, week and month of your life. -  Brian Tracey

Don't be discouraged, there is no place in God where you have it all together. Trouble does not avoid you and it sure will  challenge your life.

Dont lose your identity!  For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. (ps 84:11)

Be strong!

At the gym last night, doing some planks it was very easy for me to give up when i didn't feel like pushing anymore. I felt my stomach twitch and shimmer. I drop to the ground and let up. Sounds familiar? No? What about when situations seems too much. Do you throw your hands up? Being strong means having capacity for endurance or exertion.  Your situations should not make you fold. Be strong past the pain, past the fatigue. When the nation of Israel met adversity, God said to Asa, "Be strong, therefore, and let not your hands be weak and slack, for your work shall be rewarded." (2 Chronicles 15:7)

Be Still

Exodus 14:14, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” 15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.” >>> In other words…get going! Do what you’re supposed to do! Don’t stand there in fear…MOVE ON! The Israelites were going to cross the sea and had to believe the water would divide and that crossing the sea was a better option than surrendering to the Egyptians. It wasn’t doing nothing. It was walking by faith. We need to be STILL IN OUR FAITH and follow our assignment given by God.

What is your prison?

Philippines 1:12. We learn about apostle Paul being in prison to advance the gospel. We learn about him using prison as his platform to excel the gospel. What is your prison... sickness,  finances, marriage, children, work? Prison is not just jail.  It is a place of discomfort you cannot get out of even if you want out. We need to recognize this "prison" so we can recognize our platform. You have to look beyond your situations and view the other perspective. Paul understood and it was known to all his imprisonment is for Christ. . He had an opportunity to escape and didn't. Paul understanding his reason for imprisonment saved the guard and offered him a relationship with Christ. How you respond or behave in your prison can affect people around you. Is your negative attitude or murmuring causing people to lose hope, or deter from God? We should live a life that gives other people courage. What is your prison? How can you advance the gospel from that position?

Are you naked?

Are you naked? Yeah I asked it. If you left your house this morning and did not put on your armor of God, then you are naked. Rev 16:15 -  you have physical and spiritual clothes. The decisions you make in the morning is like getting dressed spiritually. If you are left spiritually naked you will be exposed to the enemy of this world and most likely your family is not covered either. The devil is always ready.  Romans 13:14 put on Jesus Christ... Colossians 3:12-14 clothe yourself with mercy. Things we say ahead of time dictate our decisions. The decisions we make determine how we are going to walk.  Look,  the devil has taken advantage of us long enough. Decide ahead of time and build your storehouse. Don't wait to see how you feel.

You are amazing!

You are amazing. You were born amazing. Truth is you cannot birth greatness unless you already have greatness. You cannot birth beauty, unless you have beauty in you. Everything you need, you were already born with.  1 John 3:9 says, God's seed will remain in you. Our God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly all things. You are Christ born. Can you recount anytime in the bible where Jesus was not equipped with what he needed to release or heal? The attack on your life is so great because it is to get you out of position. BUT you have enough on the inside to handle it. You were created with answers on the inside. WHAT AM I SAYING? The power of walking in the thing you were born for means your solutions will naturally flow from you and you wont need to strive or struggle. It comes naturally. Mother's mother naturally. Father's resolve problems naturally. I HOPE YOU GET THIS. the spirit of God is in You. Call out what you need! The devil may seek your destruction,  but he cannot stop or block you. GET THAT VICTORY. It is already yours.

When your life is not going the way you planned ... Keep Going!! Keep pressing in to God. The bible says, "Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." [1 Peter 5:6-7]. Continue your encouragement. Nothing you have been through will be wasted. You will be tested but QUALIFIED. The RESULT of your test is GREATER than you circumstances.  Positve Attitudes yield Positive Results. Keep POSITIVE,  Keep PRESSING forward, GREATER is coming!

Press Toward Your Goal in Christ

In Philippians 3:13-14 we learn Apostle Paul continues to press on towards his goal of a high calling in Christ. He does this by forgetting the past and looking at the future. You have also read the words of Jesus in Luke 9, "No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." Where are we going with this? That's actually what you need to ask yourself. Like a track star, if you are going to run a race, YOU must NEVER stop short of the end, but press forward as fast as YOU can. In your front view you should have heaven - the Kingdom of God. You are redeemed, justified, and held acceptable. Leave the past in the past and press forward. That being said, you have to learn to acknowledge you have Jesus' power to press through your situations.  Christ has called you, therefore it is his will that you run the race & BE EQUIPPED. GLORY TO GOD!
